The time of your life

“I found after coming home I have a higher sense of purpose and I have more confidence in my decisions in life.”

What made you choose to study at Harlaxton?

I chose to study at Harlaxton because I had heard so many raving reviews, and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I had also always loved to travel and I knew if I studied at Harlaxton, I would have the opportunity to travel to multiple countries.

Did you have a life-changing experience during your time at Harlaxton?

I used to be the type of person that would just agree with others in order to avoid conflict, but I found after coming home I have a higher sense of purpose and I have more confidence in my decisions in life. One other thing I realized in my travels was that I know nothing of this world. I traveled to over 20 different cities and each one had a completely different atmosphere. The only way to really learn how the world works is to not stay in one place.

Based on your experience, what makes the Harlaxton program unique?

Students have opportunities to visit so many different countries whether it’s with the school or independently. Also who else gets to say that they lived in a manor that looks like a castle.

How has the manor become your second home?

It is extremely difficult to put into words how Harlaxton became my home. There is nothing quite like Harlaxton. There is this feeling when walking on the grounds of the manor that you really cannot experience anywhere else. I made so many great friends while at Harlaxton and there are memories that I will never forget. My friends and I have discussed that even if we go back to Harlaxton it will not be the same feeling as it was during our time abroad.

What advice do you have for future Harlaxton students?

My two favorite trips were to Budapest and Wales, I had not expected to go to either of these places I just joined some friends last minute. That is why my first piece of advice is to say yes to everything. You will never know where you will have the time of your life. My second piece of advice is to make a budget and then expect to go over budget. No one ever wants to worry about money while traveling so plan ahead.
