Events and Marketing Intern

Harlaxton College is seeking a Events and Marketing Intern. This is a fixed term appointment where the coordinator will serve for an 18-week period covering the Spring and Summer 2023.

Responsibility

The position will serve as an Events and Marketing Intern. Responsibilities will be to:

  • Assisting the Events and Marketing Manager with all key aspects of weddings and events
  • Help the events team with general office admin
  • Carrying out client communication including enquires, tours, invoices, paperwork
  • Plan and assist the planning and execution of events
  • Develop event related promotional materials for events, with guidance from Events and Marketing Manager.
  • Assist in running of the events, some fall on the weekends
  • Plan and support social media for events team and College team
  • Serve in an on-call capacity as part of a staff duty rotation
  • Act as trip courier for British Culture Trips and day/overnight excursions
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

We are seeking applicants who will have completed a baccalaureate degree at the time of the internship, who have had experience of working in events or hospitality and marketing, and who have a strong interest in weddings, events and marketing. Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able comfortable working independently, be willing to work evenings and weekends and must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with student information and sensitive documents. Experience while an undergraduate student of living in on-campus Residential Halls is desirable. Applicants must have legal right to live and work in the UK OR meet UK Tier 5 eligibility requirements.

Compensation

Furnished lodging and three meals a day will be provided at Harlaxton College. The flexible work week will average 40 hours. The Marketing and Events Intern will have access to a shuttle service into Grantham town center, on-campus nurse, library, free laundry facilities, the on-campus gym, and the opportunity to visit some of the best locations the UK. While working as an Events and Marketing Intern they will be provided with a stipend to cover the costs of meals outside of the Manor.

Temporary Housekeeping Assistant

A new and temporary opportunity has arisen at Harlaxton College for a temporary Housekeeping Assistant to join the Housekeeping team. This role will work between our experienced Cleaners in the Manor and our skilled Stewards. This is a temporary position that we envisage will support us until the end of August.</

Working within a unique setting across 300 acres, Harlaxton Manor was built in the 1830’s for wealthy Nottinghamshire businessman, Gregory Gregory and is now home to the University of Evansville. The Manor boasts an Elizabethan style and requires someone with the experience of cleaning and maintaining high standards of cleanliness within a similar setting. This role will require someone to undergo tasks such as heavy lifting of furniture and spending a lot of time on their feet and at times will be working at height.

The Role:

The opportunity is working 20 hours per week across Thursday to Sunday and will require someone who is physically fit to carry out the daily tasks. The role also includes:

  • Carrying out cleaning of student and state bedrooms, making beds, emptying bins, dusting and hoovering etc.
  • Executing the change around of rooms, whether this be setting up for a wedding or the closure of a student event, this will require lifting of tables and chairs, steaming and waxing large floor areas, assisting with the cleaning of high to reach areas
  • Maintaining cleanliness around the Manor and adopting the ‘never walk past a problem’ approach
  • Working with the Cleaners and Stewards to support them during a high demanding period of the summer

What You Will Need:

  • Experience of cleaning in a similar setting
  • Knowledge of products and what products can be used on antique furniture is not essential but is advantageous
  • A keen eye for detail with a professional manner
  • A cautious approach with a focus on health and safety around the Manor
  • The ability to work closely in a team and collaborate between the cleaning team and steward team

Job Type: Part-time, 20 hours per week across Thursday to Sunday
Salary: £9.60 per hour

Student Success Intern

Overview

Harlaxton College is seeking a Student Success Intern. This is a fixed term appointment where the coordinator will serve for an 18-week period covering the Spring 2023 term.

Responsibility

The position will serve as front line academic support for the Student Experience Office. Responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide guidance and support to students, helping them to flourish in the Harlaxton community
  • Liaise with Faculty to support the smooth running of the Spring 2023 term
  • Provide support and motivation for students’ academic endeavours
  • Plan and execute Student Success Workshop program
  • Plan and assist in the production of weekly student communications
  • Work with the Health and Wellness Coordinator to devise weekly sessions to promote healthy living
  • Develop event related promotional materials for Manor Media
  • Document and share the student experience through designated channels
  • Plan and support Student Experience Office programming
  • Serve in an on-call capacity as part of a staff duty rotation
  • Actively participate in the daily support of student needs
  • Act as trip courier for British Culture Trips and day/overnight excursions
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Preference will be given to candidates who have extensive experience with student supervision and programming. Applicants must have legal right to live and work in the UK OR meet UK Tier 5 eligibility requirements.

Residential Life Intern

Overview

Harlaxton College is seeking a Residential Life Intern. This is a fixed term appointment where the coordinator will serve for a five-month period covering the Spring 2023 term.

Responsibility

The position will serve as front line Residential Life support for the Student Experience Office. Responsibilities will be to:

  • Train and supervise student Resident Assistants and manage RA programming
  • Plan and execute the House Competition program
  • Plan and assist in the production of weekly student communications
  • Develop event related promotional materials for Manor Media
  • Manage all social media platforms for Harlaxton College
  • Document and share the student experience through designated channels
  • Create an end of term video
  • Assist in running the Weekend Checkout process via Terra Dotta systems.
  • Plan and support Student Experience Office programming
  • Serve in an on-call capacity as part of a staff duty rotation
  • Actively participate in the daily support of student needs
  • Act as trip courier for British Culture Trips and day/overnight excursions
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

Completely furnished lodging and three meals a day will be provided at Harlaxton College with a modest deduction of £77.40 [British Pound Sterling] per week for accommodation The flexible work week will average 40 hours at British minimum wage, currently £9.50 per hour. The Residential Life Intern will have access to a shuttle service into Grantham town center, on-campus nurse, library, free laundry facilities, the on-campus gym, and the opportunity to visit some of the best locations the UK. While working as a trip leader, they will be provided with a stipend to cover the costs of meals outside of the Manor.
