  10 Great Tips for Traveling Abroad

1. Have a copy of your passport and other important documents separate from actual passport.
 

2. Familarize yourself with local laws and regulations before arriving.
 

3.While sitting or eating at a restaurant, keep purse or bag in front of self or leave on body, guys keep wallet in front pockets.
 

4. Always let someone who you are not traveling with know where you are going so others have a general idea of where you are in case of an emergency.
 

5. Keep pocket change on you, toilets will not always be free.
 

6. If it can be avoided, never walk alone.
 

7. Don’t carry large amounts of money with you. If you are going to carry large amounts of money, spread it out throughout different pockets and places.
 

8. Make sure you have extra batteries for your camera and free space on your memory card when going to new places.
 

9. Pack light and plan for changes in the weather; wear layers.
 

10. Be smart and do not advertise that you are an American. “When in Rome, do as the Romans.”
