So You Think You Speak English?
She's a Brit, but
Is She Speaking English?
In this audio-video clip,
resident fish and chips cook Myanmar Williams teaches us how to pronounce the
name of her north Wales hometown, the longest place name in Europe:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwll-llantysiliogogogoch -- much to the
amusement of Harlaxton's Sharon Kessler. The 58-letter Welsh name translates to:
St. Mary's Church, in a Dell of White Hazel Trees, Near the Rapid Whirl-pool, by
the Red Cave of the Church of St. Tysilio.
